Farmer Boy, Yer Makin' Me Hungry!

"Almanzo ate the sweet, mellow baked beans. He ate the bit of salt pork that melted like cream in his mouth. He ate mealy-boiled potatoes, with brown ham-gravy. He ate the ham. He bit deep into velvety bread spread with sleek butter, and he ate the crisp, golden crust."

-Farmer Boy by Laura Ingalls Wilder

Currently, I am reading the Laura Ingalls Wilders series. I just can't put them down! They are perfect for relaxing on the sofa with a cup of hot chocolate on a cold, wintry day. Farmer Boy even inspired me to make home-made baked beans! If you haven't read the series in a while, pick up Little House in the Big Woods. It is a bit more juvenile, but still a good read. However, once you move on to Little House on the Prarie, you'll be hooked!

Don't get turned off by Little House in the Big Woods. I actually started with the 2nd in the series, Little House on the Prarie and that was what got me hooked!

I just started reading this series with my girls. My 6 year old already read the first one, but we're re-reading it all together as part of our school time. :)

They recently put these books out with new covers so they look more "attractive" and they have a website with lots of fun stuff to do too.
