My Grandpa

My grandpa and I are very close. He is like a father to me. We've always had a special bond, no one knows why, but I just took to him, even as a baby. My mom says that when my grandpa would come into the room, I would start spinning in circles and screaming. I went with him everywhere he went. We have some great memories together. He means so much to me.

Today, I found out that my grandpa has a horrible and debilitating disease known as Lou Gehrig's disease. The disease affects the muscles, eventually paralyzing the entire body. Although the muscles can no longer function, the mind continues to understand, feel, etc. As you can imagine, to be able to think and feel pain but to be unable to move or speak would be tragic. Already they have taken all food away and he can barely speak.

My grandfather has lived a long life, and if the Lord wants to take him, then I am ok with that. But I cannot bear to watch his body slowly stop functioning. Please pray that the Lord would have mercy on my grandpa and either heal him or take him home to be with the Lord. Forget about any prayers I asked for myself and my job, if you think of me at all, then please just pray for my grandpa. Thank you.

I'm so sorry to hear about this. I remember you mentioning him before and how much you love him. I hope your trip is very meaningful. It kind of reminds me of my last visit with my grandmother when she had a brain tumor, and I KNEW it would be the last time I would see her (on earth). I was so glad to be with her, but we all shed a lot of tears. Lots of red, weepy eyes in the photos...

I will pray for you all when God brings you to my mind. Thanks for letting us know what's going on.
