New Diet...

I have been trying to put Elon on a new diet of no high fructose corn syrup and no artificial food coloring. I wish we could afford for all of us to go completely organic but that is just not an option right now. Imagine my delight when I came across this at the 99 Cent Store:

Quaker All Natural Oatmeal

Back to Nature Vanilla Wafers individually bagged

Back to Nature Mini Chocolate Chunk Cookies individually bagged

Colby Cheese Wheat Thins (Not necessarily healthy, but better than chips! These are for Nathan and I.)

I was so happy to be able to have this quick snack food to put in Elon's "munch-box" when we don't have homemade available. And all for 99 cents each! These are things that I wouldn't normally buy simply because of the cost. At 99 cents I bought several of each. I later went back and bought several boxes of Back to Nature Sesame Tarragon Crackers. Back to Nature doesn't put any artificial coloring or sweeteners and they don't use hydrogenated oils. Gotta love that, even if you aren't particularly health-conscious (I'm not).

Wow what a great find Himilce! I have always said that I need to tag along with you! You always seem to find the best deals.... :)

Wow, those are amazing prices!
I try not to give my littles anything with artificial coloring because red dye makes them (literally- I should have recorded it!) bounce off the walls. When Honey was sick a few weeks ago, I gave her tylenol at 8 am. She didn't slow down until 4 p.m.. I couldn't figure out why until I realized it was strawberry flavored tylenol, that was red in color- A-HA!
Needless to say I went out and bought grape, though dye free would've been my choice....
Anyway, I know you can get a little frustrated by his energy sometimes, so maybe this diet change will help! (Please don't be offended by that comment- I racked my brain, and a t 6:15 AM, that was the only way I could think to say it! I don't want you to think that I think Elon is difficult or something like that.
And you know what else I think? That I'm going to shut up now and go get a cup of coffee....)

Mrs. Bonnie, that comment didn't bother me a bit. I guess all parents of 3 year olds get tired of their children's energy level from time to time... and Elon seems to have more than the average kid! So does the Tylenol put your children to sleep at all, or do they stay awake and in turbo mode until it wears off?

Turbo mode.....

It is tough to find reasonable prices for some of the healthier (maybe "healthier" should be in quotes? lol) things, isn't it? So frustrating because you don't want to just keep giving your family junk, but it's hard to afford some of the other stuff sometimes. Praise the Lord for a great find! I hope it will help make a difference for you and Elon. :o)
