I know exactly how you feel. I finally pulled out some yellow rubber gloves when doing the dishes and it HELPED so much! I just need to remember that they are underneath the sink :P I too love it when others call it varnish :P
I don't think I've ever heard it referred to as varnish- it's charming!
Oh, how frustrating!I never paint my fingernails (a left-over from my days of playing piano when we weren't allowed to have polished fingernails) :) ... but I do like to have painted toenails. At least with them, chips aren't so noticeable. :)
Elizabeth, for some reason those yellow gloves under the sink has always weirded me out. I'm afraid I'm gonna stick my finger right into a spider's mouth :)Mrs. Bonnie, I have heard it in the past (I think maybe British folks refer to it as varnish) and then read it again the other day in a Miss Read's novel *Fresh From the Country.* I thought it was so cute!Davene Grace, why can't pianist's paint their nails? Too distracting? I agree, painted toenails are a must. Mine look like guy feet without some *toenail varnish" :)
Yep, too distracting. My piano teacher through high school (whom I learned so much from and dearly love) was quite strict on short fingernails, and no polish. I guess professionally, a pianist could use a clear polish or a very light, natural one. But in general, I don't think pianists do much to keep nail polish companies in business. :)
