Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus....

Thank you all for your love and prayers. I know that they have been supporting me. I really, really appreciate them.

Yesterday, I had thought about posting the verse in Job that says "the Lord gave and the Lord hath taken away, blessed be the name of the Lord" (my paraphrase), but while searching for the exact scripture, I happened upon a blog by another Christian mother who had recently delivered a stillborn. She was "ranting (her words)" about people who use that verse in reference to miscarriages and such. She said that Satan had taken her child, not God, and she was very angry with people "misusing" that scripture.

I thought about that for a while... whether God had taken my baby or Satan had stolen him. I came to the conclusion that Satan has no power or authority to kill my baby. God allowed my baby to die, for whatever His reasons. According to 1 Samuel 2:6, "The LORD killeth, and maketh alive: He bringeth down to the grave, and bringeth up." Wouldn't it be awful if Satan had authority to kill us. Yes, I know that he would like to, but does he have that kind of power over God's children? Wouldn't all Christians be dead by now? Revelations 1:17-18, "And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last: I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death."

During the trip to the ER, I did pray against any attacks from the enemy I bound them according to Matthew 18:18 ("Truly I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven.") I also prayed that God's Will would be done, for He alone knows what is best for me and my unborn child. Thank God that His is the power to give or take a life... because He can be trusted implicitly.

I totally agree with you. People (I think anyway) tend to put God in the box of never letting bad things happen to Christians. (What about Job???), and when something does go wrong, they blame it all on Satan, because well, it just couldn't be God doing this to me. No, God does not *make* bad things happen, but He does not put a stop to all of it either, again I refer to Job. And I personally think that the yes, the Lord does give and take away, and the whole point of the verse is that no matter the situation, I WILL continue to praise the Lord.
I hope that all makes sense...

I agree with your conclusion about that verse. I especially appreciate your last 2 sentences. Who are we to understand the mind and will of God perfectly? Who are we to demand that God give us a child? Scientifically, I know sometimes that miscarriage happens naturally so that a baby with severe deformities will not survive...nature's (God's) way of actually protecting us. So who am I to think I have it all figured out and know exactly when I should conceive and carry a child to term?

I think it's important to approach God with a lot of humility in our prayers...lots of "Your will be done" prayers. Because, like you said, He can be trusted.

I have lots more thoughts swirling around about this, but they're hard to express now...

I just stumbled across your blog this morning. Your situation touches a dear spot in my heart. God will be with you during this time of mourning your loss, and the years to come.
You are right about Satan, he gets more credit for bad things than he earns, doesn't he? God is Soveriegn and he does allow bad things to happen.. but that does not mean that it is His divine Will. We live in an imperfect world and bad things will happen... if nothing 'bad' ever happened...when would we run to Him?
When I lost my sister I could not be angry at God or Satan (though Satan would have had it that way). God gave her to me, and what a gift! Man's folly (doctors) made her life shorter... God did not Will her to die young, He just let it happen. Satan's only contribution into the situation was trying his dirty tricks... the same ones you fight against now. Don't let him get to your mind or heart... You are in God's hand!

Hilda, thank you for sharing your story with us. I am amazed at the trials Christian women have born through and came out yet stronger on the other end. You are an inspiration.
